Our charity stores set to give away 30,000 free school uniform items

Our charity stores are all set to give away thousands of free school uniform items during this Back-to-School season as we aim to surpass our community-giving initiative last year.
As the trading arm of The Salvation Army, we gave away over 29,000 free school uniform items from our stores across the UK last year, and we hope to offer more free items to families this year. As well as the give aways from SATCoL-run stores, Salvation Army churches and community centres across the country are also hosting free school uniform pop-up shops.
Nicola Crawford, Director of Retail at Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL), said:
“Supporting families and easing the cost of school uniforms is incredibly important to us. Thanks to generous donations from members of the public and local schools, we’re able to provide a positive and accessible shopping experience for parents, guardians, and children.”
The free school uniform give away starts from Monday 29th June. The free items are made up of good quality second-hand items donated by members of the local community, as well as thousands of new items donated by a corporate donor that will be distributed to over 250 Salvation Army charity stores.
Garry Smith, Director of Mission at SATCoL, said:
“No child should start school without essentials, and we want to ease the burden for families who have a big expense at this time of year. Our shops and donation centres act as community hubs and are an extension of Salvation Army mission. Conveniently located, our stores can easily collect and distribute school uniform items and help families who need support.”
Items available for free include tops, bottoms, jumpers and cardigans and are available while stocks last. Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their nearest store to check on availability and visit as soon as possible: Find Us - Salvation Army
