From Saturday 26 September to Saturday 3 October, shoppers are being encouraged to visit their local Salvation Army charity store and create a standout outfit for £10 or less as part of its Charity Shop Challenge for Sustainable Fashion Week 2026. The challenge celebrates individuality, affordability and sustainability, while raising vital funds to support The Salvation Army's work in communities.

Built around the campaign call-to-action "Shop it, Snap it, Share it", shoppers are invited to find their perfect charity shop outfit, take a photo of their look and share it on social media, inspiring others to discover the benefits of shopping second-hand.

Nicole Morarescu, Circular Programme Manager, for Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL), who is organising the charity shop division's campaign said:

"The Charity Shop Outfit Challenge is a celebration of everything that makes charity shopping special. It's about expressing your unique style, uncovering hidden gems and discovering incredible value, all while making a more sustainable choice.

Whether you're a regular charity shopper or stepping into a charity shop for the very first time, we're inviting everyone to take part. Every purchase helps extend the life of quality clothing, supports local reuse and recycling, and raises funds that enable The Salvation Army to continue supporting people who need us most."

Julie Field, Head of Retail Operations at SATCoL said:

"For many charity shop enthusiast, the challenge is an opportunity to share second-hand shopping that reflects their personality and style. For those keen to embrace more sustainable habits, it offers a simple and enjoyable way to support circular fashion.

By bringing together fashion, sustainability and community impact, we hope the challenge will encourage more people to discover the joy of charity shopping and the positive difference it can make."

Throughout the week, Salvation Army charity shops will encourage customers to take on the challenge, share their favourite finds and demonstrate just how much can be achieved with a £10 budget.
