Salvation Army’s first donation centre gets a new look

Since opening in 2016, West Bromwich donation centre, Salvation Army's very first, has become a regular 'check out' spot for the local residents and a part of many peoples daily and weekly routines.
Over the years, Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) has grown to proudly operate over 250 high street charity shops and donations centres on behalf of our parent charity. The donation centres offer a spacious shopping area, with an open format so customers can see the donations being sorted.
The original shop layout, which was created to host as simple sorting station for donations, made it difficult for the donation centre to grow and adapt to the increased footfall and customer interest.
Joanne Salliss, Donation Centre Manager shares: "We were thrilled when we learned the donation centre will be getting a fresh look, and it truly injected a new enthusiasm into the team and our customers."
The re-opening day celebrations took place on 10th April 2025, and were supported by the local Salvation Army band, led by Lee from Willenhall Salvation Army Church. The day, filled with sunshine and music, saw customers old and new visit the donation centre for a chance to find a bargain. Joanne recalls: "We really couldn’t have asked for a better first day back! It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and being told how much they had missed us. It made us truly swell with pride."
Joanne continued: "We are extremely grateful to have been given this refit, and throughout the whole process, the dedication and hard work of the team at West Bromwich has been second to none. I am truly proud to be a part of this wonderful group of people!"
