Celebrating Founders’ Day: Honouring a Legacy of Faith and Service

In July 1865, William Booth preached to crowds outside the Blind Beggar pub in East London, starting a movement called ‘The Christian Mission’. It was then that William and Catherine Booth began a journey of faith, hope and service, changing the lives of many and shaping the future of even more. By 1878 it became known by the name we call it today, The Salvation Army.

160 years on and their work and word have reached 134 countries, and many more communities and hearts across the world. Its decades long legacy continues to create movements, spread faith, and reach a helping hand to those most in need, keeping the belief and hope of William and Catherine Booth alive in this ever-changing world.

At Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL), we are proud to play a vital role in continuing this legacy. Our core purpose is to enable mission and provide resources to help the work of the Salvation Army, as we strive to keep William and Catherine's legacy alive in the work that we do.
