Our 50th donation centre opens

Hundreds of shoppers flocked to the opening day of the new Salvation Army donation centre in Coventry, on Tuesday 20th August 2024. The Coventry donation centre marks a milestone as the 50th store of its kind to be opened by the charity in the UK. The local Salvation Army Corps band helped to welcome shoppers and donors along with the store's team.

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) operates over 250 high street charity shops and donations centres on behalf of our parent charity. The donation centre offers a large, spacious shopping area, and an open format so customers can see the donations being sorted.

Community events and initiatives will form a core part of the donation centre which features spaces for Kilo Sales events; Craft Clubs with designated sewing machines; Repair Cafe in partnership with Coventry Library; and Connection Booth which includes 4 computers available to help bridge the digital gap for people without access to a computer.

One of the most eye-catching features of the Coventry donation centre is a book area, which holds 6,000 books and is reminiscent of a mini library.
