Lichfield Donation Centre Wins Display Competition

Across the UK, the Christmas 2025 festivities are in full swing, and our Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) shops and donation centres are celebrating the holiday season with crafty and colourful festive displays, lighting up the highstreets up and down the country as part of our internal Christmas display competition.

The competition sees our shop teams create festive and fun Christmas displays, which showcase teamwork, creativity, and community spirit. This year, one entry stood out above the rest. 'Santa's Grotto' at our Lichfield Donation centre captured the hearts of the community and our colleagues, receiving the highest number of votes and taking home the overall win.

Salvation Army Lichfield Donation Centre Christmas 2025 Display showcasing 'Santas Grotto', a house made from wood pallets with Christmas decorations and reindeer.

Made from recycled and upcycled materials, the Grotto was a big hit with customers. Donation centre Manager Diane Sedgeley shares: “The customers have absolutely loved it! We’ve had people say they can’t help but look. The children have also loved it which is just lovely.” Diane wanted to also give a shoutout to volunteer Heather, who helped to design the display: “She’s an absolutely amazing lady and is already preparing for next year!”. The Grotto is also collapsible, making it easy to store away for next year's display.

We’d also like to congratulate our runners-up: Leicester Donation Centre, Falkirk Shop and Cardiff Donation Centre.
