Ever had a Blind Date with a Book?

Search online for #blinddatewithabook and you will find lots of inspiration to reuse second-hand book and gift them as ‘mystery reads’ – hence the name Blind Date with a Book, because you just don’t know what story will unfold.

At the beginning of the Christmas season, our Coventry donation centre hosted a Blind Date with a Book event. The centre has a beautiful second-hand book library and, like most of our charity shops, there is plenty of genres to choose from. On the day, the team got busy wrapping books to be sold as gifts for Christmas.

Are you looking for an inexpensive and thoughtful gift? Pop along to your nearest Salvation Army charity shop and pick a book for a loved one. You can wrap your book  using paper, ribbons, tags and other decorative flourishes to create a heartfelt personal gift.

Sustainable Wreath Making

Our Parc Tawe donation centre ran a wreath making workshop at the start of the Christmas season. Members of the public came into the store to create their own wreathes using natural, donated materials. You can revamp an old wreath, or reuse Christmas decorations. Have a look at our highlights from the day to get an idea of what you’ll need!

These are just two ways that you can create something unique and affordable this Christmas. We wish you a very happy Christmas and New Year!
