The Salvation Army's Gorseinon donation centre team are inviting customers and visitors to hit the runway on Thursday 2nd October at 6pm as part of Sustainable Fashion Week. The show will feature fashion outfits with a head-to-toe budget of £10 or less and the store wants people to get involved!

Gareth Carnegie, Gorseinon donation centre manager, said: "The fashion show will celebrate style for under £10, and show how second-hand can be fashionable. Everyone is welcome to take part in the catwalk and style a look. We are looking for fifteen customers to model their chosen outfits on the catwalk and those that get involved can keep it! They also have the chance to win a prize for best style and look."

The event is free to attend and the Gorseinon donation centre team hopes it will get more people inspired by second-hand fashion. There will also be refreshments, late-night shopping and two £50 Charity Shop Gift Card prizes awarded for the best outfit curated and modelled on the runway.

The fashion show kicks off three days of events at Gorseinon donation centre. Hot on the heels of the fashion show, the centre will host a Repair Café with helpers on-hand to show people how to fix buttons, mend holes and keep the things they love going for longer.

Gareth added: "Our message is 'fix it, don't ditch it', so please come along to Repair Café for a fun day. And if you can't make that, we will have lots of bargains on Saturday at our Kilo Sale, so grab your tote bag and get thrifting!"

Here are the details:

  • Fashion Show - Thursday 2nd October between 6pm and 8pm.
  • Repair Café - Friday 3rd October between 10am and 4pm.
  • Kilo Sale - Saturday 4th October between 9:30am and 5pm.

All the events will be held at The Salvation Army donation centre, Gorseinon Road, Swansea, SA4 9GE.

Gorseinon donation centre is operated by Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL), on behalf of its parent charity. As well as events at Gorseinon, throughout the Sustainable Fashion Week, over 260 Salvation Army stores across the UK will invite customers to take the Charity Shop Challenge and curate an outfit for £10 or less.

Nicole Morarescu, Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator at SATCoL, said: "Creating runway-worthy and head-turning outfits doesn't have to be expensive. Sustainable Fashion Week is all about celebrating second-hand fashion and we wanted to show existing and new customers how to create incredible outfits that would look good on the runways of London, Paris, and New York, but with a budget of £10 or less!"

SATCoL's Sustainable Fashion Week events will run from 29th September to 5th October.
