Salvation Army Trading Company has won the award for Best Benefits Launch/Relaunch at the 2024 Appreciation Awards hosted by Reward Gateway | Edenred, a leading employee experience platform.

The Reward Gateway | Edenred Appreciation Awards are a celebration of the outstanding work that HR teams across the UK are doing to create a positive employee experience and a culture of appreciation within their organisations and in their wider communities.

The awards represented the organisations who have been delivering excellence in employee experience and demonstrating the power of appreciation in our businesses. Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) operates over 250 charity stores and 9,000 clothing banks, as well as other community-based initiatives, on behalf of its parent charity. Sarah Trivett, Head of HR and Training, has been working with colleagues to develop the colleague experience and benefits.

Sarah said: “Our big focus over recent years has been to surpass our colleagues’ expectations and aspirations as an employer of choice. We have spent time to really understand what our people want. We have listened to our colleagues through internal surveys and group discussions, and undertook research to find benefits that will really help them.”

New benefits introduced includes SmartTech to help spread the costs of appliances, a salary sacrifice Cycle2Work scheme and Holiday Purchase scheme, all managed by SATCoL’s re:connect branded Reward Gateway platform. A funded Virtual GP benefit was also introduced in April and seamlessly integrates with existing benefits offered by the company via re:connect.

Sarah added: “Reward Gateway has the platform, expertise and technology to enable us to deliver many of the sought-after benefits we offer, from wellbeing to Holiday Purchase benefits. We have brought our SATCoL colleague experience to life through various communications and events and Reward Gateway has been an unwavering champion and support for us.”

Nick Burns, CEO at Reward Gateway | Edenred, said: “The Appreciation Awards show how SATCoL is recognising the impact a culture of appreciation can have on their businesses and in their wider communities. The awards are a way for us to celebrate those who are at the forefront of employee experience within their organisation and beyond. The Appreciation Awards are a means for us to gather as a HR community and celebrate SATCoL and others who are leading the way in our industry.”
