The Salvation Army’s ‘The Great Big Charity Superstore’ will be the largest charity shop in the UK, with furniture and clothing departments, a cafe and a Salvation Army meeting place.  Opening in the summer of 2017 we are looking for full and part time staff to deliver fantastic customer service

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) was formed in 1991 and its primary aim is to provide The Salvation Army with funds to support its valuable work throughout the UK and Ireland, which includes homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents, support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales and a Family Tracing Service.

Working for the company you will be supporting the work of The Salvation Army, helping to raise much needed funds.  If you are passionate about giving great customer service and can empathise with the goals and aims of The Salvation Army then we would like to hear from you. 

Working in the cafe you’ll help make the cafe a place that people want to meet, eat and return to time and time again.  With your great customer service skills you will ensure that customers receive a warm welcome and enjoy their visit to the cafe.  On occasion you may deputise for the cafe manager.    

Key areas of responsibility:

Customer Service

Ensure all customers receive great customer service

Prepare food as demand requires ensuring that waste is kept to a minimum

Ensure food is stored correctly and rotated as directed

Actively promote any promotions as directed

Ensure the area is kept to agreed housekeeping standards

Volunteer Staff

Promote a happy workforce

Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer staff

Health and Safety:

Maintain safe standards of hygiene and operations in kitchen and restaurant areas e.g. the correct and appropriate use of personal protective equipment and COSHH procedures

Have knowledge of good practice of managing kitchen/food preparation areas

Ensure compliance with all Food Standard Agency requirements, SATCoL Health and Safety policies and fire regulation procedures at all times

Ensure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed to company and legislation standards
