Julia Carruthers, manager of the Salvation Army’s boutique charity shop in Bruntsfield Place, has curated a collection of preloved fashion items for a catwalk show taking place in the iconic Edinburgh City Chambers. The collection will be shown on the final evening of Edinburgh Fashion Week (Saturday 12 March) as part of a celebration of charity shop fashion.

Research by the charity found that we each get at least three gifts we don’t want at Christmas, with over 40 per cent of these ending up at the bottom of our cupboards*. With this in mind, The Salvation Army is asking people to simply donate any unwanted items to charity in the New Year.
