Take on The Lent Volunteering Challenge
It’s Pancake Day next Tuesday! Hooray!
But after you’ve indulged in those delicious pancakes and tried to decide which is your favourite topping (mine’s golden syrup), you might be thinking about what you’re going to give up for Lent.
Chocolate, social networks, alcohol, meat, sweets? According to a source, these are the most common things to give up for lent.
But why not do something a little different this year and take on our Lent Volunteering Challenge?
Instead of giving something up, commit to volunteering just one day a week in your local Salvation Army charity shop between 1st March and 16th April.
That’s just 7 days – and it only needs to be a few hours each time!
Our charity shops rely on the help of volunteers, and giving just a few hours a week really does make a difference.
Could you be a super clothes sorter? Do you want to try creating a dazzling window display? Do you have excellent fashion style or knowledge of books or antiques? Use your skills to help your local Salvation Army charity shop. All you have to do is offer your time...
When you volunteer you can
- Make new friends
- Learn new skills
- Develop your CV
- Work towards qualifications
- Improve your confidence
Give a little time and see what you could gain!
